Myrtle Beach Trip

We decided to wind up spring break this year by spending the last weekend at Myrtle Beach. We had a lot of fun and were there with friends from our town as well as friends from Jacksonville, Florida. The weather wasn't good but we've seen worse. Bobby & Chris had most of their fun going up & down in the elevators, "chasing women", and swimming & hitting the sauna. We all ate a lot of good food at some nice restaurants and we went to a couple of malls. Broadway at the Beach is a fun spot to visit; it has lots of unique shops as well as "Ripley's Aquarium" which Gib & Bobby visited. All in all it was a fun weekend!

Maybe you can tell by the palms & the flags
that the wind was really kicking this weekend.
It was a cold wind too so there was no
"beach combing" this trip. Just toooo cold!

As you might expect, "Foxworthy's" is the ultimate
redneck shop. Here's Gib, Chris & Bobby watching a funny
hunting video while the rest of us browse.

When Ronnie ordered a "large" beer at "Chuck's Steakhouse"
none of us knew it would be large enough
for a killer whale to swim in!

"I wonder if there's any cheerleaders here?"

Gib & Wayne at the Bone Fish bar

Christopher hit the jackpot this weekend!
The place was literally crawling with
CHEERLEADERS!
There was a huge national cheer championship
going on at Myrtle Beach. This
shot was taken from the window in our suite as
the girls were practicing some routines.

" Well, this is one way to get these cheerleaders
to notice me!"

All the guys chilling out in the suite

It's a good thing I know some wrestling moves
or I'd never get a hug, would I??

I had to hold 'em down but I got my hugs!

Just another wrestling match...
Boys will be boys!

Chris & Bobby loading up on junk food of course!

Last Wednesday Chris was super excited that his new skate boarding shoes came via UPS. In this pic he also has on his new hat from his cousin, Joe & family.

Lesley & Charles Johnson
P.O. Box 244
Lyon, MS 38645

It happened sorta like this....

approximate eastern standard times:
9:30 am: Charles called me at work to tell me they were at the hospital because Lesley had been contracting all night.
10:30 am: Charles called and said they were waiting on a delivery room
11:30 am: Charles texted me saying "We're going in!" (is this the S.W.A.T. team??)
12:30 pm: ...another text...."Looking good!"
1:30 pm: ...phone call from Charles..."Everything went good" (to which I'm sitting here saying to myself...well, ok...do we have babies now or what??? I think the boy was about to pass out from all the excitement! ha ha!)
2:30 pm: I go to the school to pick up Bobby & I put a sign on the window that said "Congratulations Uncle Bobby! Lucy Kate & Bryant are here!" Bobby's eyes got really big when the sign caught his eye as he was casually walking up to the car...it was cute!
3:30 pm: I texted Christopher to tell him the news and he was VERY excited!
8:30 pm: Gib finally gets to talk to Charles and Lesley finally gets to go to NICU to see her babies who she hasn't seen since the delivery and that was only for a moment
11:54 pm: WHEW! WHAT AN EXCITING DAY!! I'm going to bed to pass out now!

Spring is My Favorite Time of Year!

Although the official 1st day of spring isn't until the 20th, I am celebrating early! Spring is my favorite time of year. It's as if we all get a fresh, new start in life, don't you think? Everything's new outdoors and I love watching the progress of trees and bushes budding and bursting until they finally have leaves again. I've always told my youngest son, Bobby, that the trees are "naked" when they lose their leaves in the winter. He used to think that was funny but he's a whole 9 now so mom's humor is beginning to fall by the wayside. (I'm not cool anymore! waahhh!)

Nothing like a sweet little baby taking a bath!
Evan - 4 months old

My daughter-in-law, Liz, was an extra in Sean Penn's movie "Into The Wild". That's her at the counter writing. She played a border patrol agent.

Spring is definitely arriving when you see "zillions" of pear trees & dogwoods in bloom here in the Carolinas. They're truly a beautiful sight; one that I love!

Last week was the "Blue & Gold Banquet" for our scouts & Bobby was presented with his Bear badge. Way to go Bobby!

Here's a recent shot of Lesley & Charles at the club on Lesley's birthday. I actually stole a pic from their blog & resized it for mine! (thanks kids!) Charles, you look 1/2 asleep! (a hereditary look....sorry!) Lesley is a beautiful mom to be!

Here's a photo of myself with my Grandma Christina and my "auntie-mom", Aunt Lori. This was taken in Pittsburgh around 1992. Before this visit, I hadn't seen my grandmother for over 30 years! My grandmother passed away last week at the age of 92.

All My Siblings

Here's the 4 of us kids in Grand Forks, ND in 1965. Left to right: Rick, Kim, Kathy, Kristy. It was great living in the same town as our Grandma Dawes!

My younger brother, Rick, and his wife, Jill. This was taken in February in Cancun, Mexico. Rick & Jill live in PA & their handsome son, Dustin, lives in Raleigh, NC.

Here's my middle sister, Kim, with her newest grandbaby, Brooklyn Mae. Kim lives in Wisconsin

Kristy is my youngest sister & she lives in Georgia. Her son's name is Michael & he's quite the avid skate-boarder. Kristy is very fond of her cat named "Peaches"!

2002 & 2004 Weddings

Here are a few shots from my eldest sons' weddings. Scott & Liz got married in October of 2002 at the Norfolk Botannical Gardens in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Charles & Lesley wed in May of 2004 in West Helena, Arkansas. Both weddings were wonderful and the brides were absolutely beautiful. They are both wonderful girls and we are very happy to have them in our family!

Moments to Mention: Have you ever seen a groom literally tackled by a bunch of Navy SEALS who tried to tie him up with duct tape???? Have you ever seen a groom's brother do a back flip off a dock into a lake while wearing his rented tux? Oh could I go on.......
